The Last Irish Outpost is Ready for Self-destruction, or the Revenge of the Druids

London-controlled Northern Ireland now wants to follow the example of the southern part of Ireland and join them in committing national suicide.  The Northern Poofs are on the march to bring the New Marriage Lunacy to Northern Ireland and are taking to the streets in Belfast, no doubt with generous financial help from notable Irishmen like George Soros.

We will see if the Protestant portion of Ireland caves in like the Catholics in the South.  I assume that they will but we shall see what we shall see.

For those who have not seen it we can recommend this poignant blog post over at Cor Jesu Sacratissimum, The Lost Piety of Catholic Ireland.  It is beautifully written and says in a few words more than this writer has heard in a decade from church pulpits.

AP, thank you for providing that interesting link. Part of the answer I believe is due to the clergy not being 'one with the people'. I refer to the old 'rebel' song 'Fr Murphy of County Wexford' relating to the fighting of 1798. Clearly Fr Murphy was with the people, so why are contemporary Irish priests not leading their parishes?
The answer came from a curious source, I was flicking through the biography of British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli written by Sarah Bradford, and came across a startling fact. In 1859 Disraeli was a rising star within the British government and he was asked his opinion on how to control nationalism in Ireland, his response was that control of national feeling could be achieved by controlling the formation and training of priests! To this end the newly established seminary at Maynooth was subsidized by the British government, in those days very anti-Catholic, to the sum of £40,000 pa, then a colossal sum.
So the question must be asked, who now subsidizes the operation of Maynooth and what strings (if any) are attached?

Fascinating, and thank you.

Interestingly, the late, great Hamish Fraser was writing about problems at Maynooth over forty years ago in his periodical, Approaches. I recall one article, "The Scandal of Maynooth". I'll have to go look it up again.

The seeds of iniquity were sown long ago. Now they are reaping the fruits.
