THE PITIFUL BLEATINGS OF AN EX-NUN

Humor Dept.

Too ridiculous to get terribly upset about.  But if you want a laugh or two you can read this:

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/04/28/17959215-kentucky-woman-ordained-as-priest-by-dissident-roman-catholics?lite=

There's no fool like an old fool, I guess, but I wonder:  is this kind of Junior High school idiocy peculiar only to Americans?

I read as far as..woman ordained (a, or as) Catholic priest by Mary Meehan Catholic bishop in united church of Christ. Aged parent, I'm not laughing. They oughta be put in prison.

I was expecting to see Fr. Bourgeois name in the article. I guess there are more than enough dissident or defrocked clergy to go around.

I wonder what was going on when these people were having their conscience formation?
I'm currently reading "Goodbye, Good Men" by Michael S. Rose. Considering my current insomnia I'll just copy and paste from a review which motivated me to buy the book. It's a fair assumption that the same was going with women
...
Goodbye, Good Men Rose describes an environment in many Catholic seminaries during the 70’s and 80’s which encouraged dissent and disobedience, as well as moral and doctrinal laxity. In these seminaries, Rose writes, those responsible for recruitment and admissions actively sought out men who supported the “progressive” or liberal Catholic agenda: abolition of priestly celibacy, ordination of women, acceptance of the gay lifestyle, and liturgical experimentation. Those few men with more traditional views who got into these seminaries were subjected to harassment and attempts at re-indoctrination. Rose describes an atmosphere in which expressions of reverence such as genuflection or kneeling were derided, and traditional devotions such as the rosary received scorn and hostility....

Read the entire review by Rev. Robert J. Johansen, M.A. at -http://www.culturewars.com/2002/may02_ggm.html

I haven't completed reading the book yet. Rev. Johansens' review is critical of the lack of analysis & suggestions for what might be done to improve things at seminaries. At least it got published and people are taking it seriously which is more than would have happened when the late Card. Bernadin was a "kingmaker" in the US.
