The illogical, mendacious and hysterical haters of Vladimir Putin, who control the world's microphones and news media, give us their "two-minute Hate" against him every thirty minutes or so. It is so over done, so bereft of facts, so filled with unthinking emotion that I'm beginning to doubt the sanity of those who believe the perpetrators of this hoax.
Sadly, even some Catholic blogs have signed on to the news media's Hate Putin and Russia campaign in a way that I am sure is unthinking rather than reflective. Be that as it may those who strive to keep their heads during this relentless assault on common sense are the ones whose words we should be reading. This blog presents links to some of these more thoughtful internet sites and blogs.
Here is an interesting story which I believe will help us to understand the admittedly complex mind of Mr Putin and possibly serve as an antidote to the nonsense being pedaled by Washington and their media:
Here’s something you don’t see every day. Especially from a heinous “dictator” who “kills journalists.”
Russian president Vladimir Putin paid a visit to one of Russia’s best known human rights campaigners, Lyudmila Alekseyeva. The occasion was her 90th birthday.
Alekseyeva started exposing human rights violations in the USSR in 1968. To this day, she remains an active critic of the Kremlin.
Putin paid a surprise visit to Alekseyeva in her Moscow flat. The president was very gracious to the nonagenarian, thanking her for her work and presenting her with gifts including a framed picture of her hometown of Yevpatoria in Crimea.

ReplyDeleteAlso I noticed him recently defending Christian morality but only to criticize the U.S./ or western capitalists. WHen West was moral USSR/communists were busy exporting abortion, sodomy etc.

In the 21st century, communist parties are generally pro-LGBT rights and the only Communist state left in the Americas, Cuba, has supported pro-LGBT policy since the 1970s.

Wikipedia (everyone’s quick go-to) quotes the 1930 “Great Soviet Encylopedia” as follows: Soviet legislation does not recognize so-called crimes against morality. Our laws proceed from the principle of protection of society and therefore countenance punishment only in those instances when juveniles and minors are the objects of homosexual interest … while recognizing the incorrectness of homosexual development … our society combines prophylactic and other therapeutic measures with all the necessary conditions for making the conflicts that afflict homosexuals as painless as possible and for resolving their typical estrangement from society within the collectivehttp://www.stalinsociety.org/2015/04/08/homosexuality-in-the-ussr/
920, Russian Soviet Republic became the first country in the world to allow abortion in all circumstances, but over the course of the 20th century, the legality of abortion changed more than once, with a ban being enacted again from 1936 to 1955. Russia had the highest number of abortions per woman of child-bearing age in the world according to UN data as of 2010.[2] In terms of the total number, in 2009 China reported that it had over 13 million abortions,[3] out of a population of 1.3 billion, compared to the 1.2 million abortions in Russia,[4] out of a population of 143 million people.

ReplyDeleteWhile a small group of Russians are nostalgic for Soviet days Russia is no longer a Communist country. If you are unaware of that you do need to get down and do more research. The internet is your friend.
Russia was under a tyranny for nearly a century and it will take time for those wounds to heal. Interestingly, the leaders of the Russian Orthodox church are working hard to ban abortion outright in Russia, and the "evil Putin" has been rebuilding destroyed churches faster than new ones pop up.
There is no question that today's Russia is not Soviet Russia.
It seems to me the "hate Russia" momentum really got going when they refused to participate in the Olympic Gay Fest. That seemed to be the time when all of a sudden they were vilified by the fascists who currently run our world. They became the skunk at the picnic, and now it is all agreed we must all hate Russia, but nobody says why.
ReplyDeleteExcept we don't. After watching the Middle East there are lots of folks I probably do hate, but it's not Putin. Every time I see the guy, he's in an orthodox church or doing something relatable.
I would prefer President Trump did not put sanctions on Russia, but he didn't ask me about it. I would like to see us become cozier with Russia. We seem to have other, more pressing enemies that worry me.
Aged parent - did you watch this video of Putin kissing the stomach of a little boy?

The reporter who stated Putin was a pedophile died shortly thereafter and it is alleged he was assassinated for reporting Putin was a pedophile. "Mr Litvinenko’s accusations of Mr Putin being a paedophile is thought to be one of the motives the Russian government had to allegedly order his assassination."

Putin was a lt col in the KGB. He has NO (zero, nada, zip) love for the U.S.

(Look up Putin on that site and you will find numerous articles).
The USSR & KGB spent their time attempting to corrupt the west and the Catholic Church for most of the 20th Century and carried out the same campaign in Russia and during that whole time the Russian Orthodox Church was their tool.
Subject: Feminist Family Law rooted in USSR Marxist Law, a 1974 US legal journal article, showing the Marxist explicitly antifamily roots "Destroy the family," as the Communist Lenin said, "and you destroy society." [1]

Now the Russian Orthodox Church is Putin's tool. Putin believes in no God but himself and his interest;

and the Russian Orthodox Church believes that the State rules the Church.

The Patriarch met anti-abortion campaigners and signed a petition to be handed to President Vladimir Putin, the church said in a statement....In January 2015, Patriarch Kirill told the lower house, in the first time a religious leader had addressed parliament: "If we manage to cut the number of abortions by 50 per cent we would have stable and powerful population growth."

13 Abortions for Every 10 Live Births in Russia 10:43 AM, FEB 08, 2013 | By DANIEL HALPER
This week Russian president Vladimir Putin brought Boyz II Men to Moscow to "hopefully [give] Russian men some inspiration ahead of St. Valentine's Day," according to the Moscow Times. That is, Putin brought the music group to town to encourage love-making, and, he hopes, baby-making to offset Russia's demographic disaster

After struggling to adjust to the new world order in the aftermath of the fall of the Soviet Union and later embracing Russia’s status as a renegade under Putin, many Russians appear committed to the belief that only a large population will guarantee their country’s return to self-sufficiency. Now, as Russia veers further away from the West and the tone of its interaction with the United States grows more confrontational, nationalism and patriotic sentiment have given further momentum to initiatives aimed at ensuring a growing Russian population. Patriarch Kirill and Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova have signed a cooperation agreement identifying abortion prevention and “the promotion of family values” as main spheres of joint activity for the church and the government. ...“What do we even need a large population for? To send it to war?”

ReplyDeleteI only have time before getting off to bed to respond briefly. I may offer a fuller response at a later time, though your shotgun approach would require probably 30,000 words to respond.
Your references carry such remarks as "it is alleged", "some believe that", etc., in other words, mere allegations devoid of any solid, concrete evidence. You clearly need to be more well-read on these matters as some of the people you quote have very little credibility. When you have verifiable evidence from a non-biased source then present it. Allegations have no value, just like the ludicrous allegations that the Russians "hacked" our last election. All finger-pointing, but not a shred of evidence or proof.
It saddens me to see Tradition in Action riding their same old hobby horse day after day after day. TFP used to be a reliable source of information many years ago when Communism was riding high and destroying nation states but they simply refuse to accept the fact that certain things in the world have changed. For them it is always Brazil in 1955. And their near-worship of the USA borders frankly on disgusting. They obviously deify the USA, a land that shoves sodomy and abortion down our throats on an hourly basis. Because of their unfortunate tunnel vision I have long ceased reading their material, knowing that they simply refuse to face facts.
And to use the Weekly Standard as a reliable source of news tells me that you do indeed need to get away from the mainstream media and into more honest reporting. The neocons who run that paper have only one goal in mind: get the US to fight Israel's enemies, no matter what it costs the Americans in blood and treasure.
Your suspicion based on that video that Mr Putin is a pedophile is too absurd to even comment on. So I wont.
You state that Mr Putin hates the US. I doubt it (did you ever read his letter to the New York Times?) but if he did who could blame him? The US is right now doing everything possible to provoke Russia into "firing the first shot" and so far, thank God, Putin has not taken the bait.
Do some more reading, Anon, from reliable, original sources. Try Antiwar.com, LewRockwell.com, the Syrian Free Press, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, etc., and try to remember that Russia shook off Communism in 1989. And pray for them.
