Finally, a little hard reality rears its ugly head in the tragic situation in the Holy Land. It is a story rarely, if ever, mentioned. And it is, sadly, quite common.

I'm quite sure the "usual suspects" will be displeased.

WHAT'S GOOD FOR THE GOOSE.....
Apparently, what's good for the goose is not necessarily good for the gander.
Behold the blatant hypocrisy of the criminal justice system which drools over every accusation against a priest, but is strangely silent on this matter. And behold the hypocrisy of the major news media which is, lest we forget, owned by basically six people in the world by last count:

The coverup is as nauseating as the crimes.

STAND YOUR GROUND, BISHOP JENKY
Bishop Daniel Jenky has just released a rather magnificent broadside against the Monstrous Regiment in Washington, comparing their actions with the tyrants of old, from Otto von Bismarck to Clemenceau, from the National Socialists in Germany to the Soviets in Russia. His words were carefully chosen, pointed and courageous.
As if on cue, the impudent blowhards at the Anti-Defamation League have piped up, claiming that only the sufferings of their Jewish brethren have any significance and that the sufferings of Catholics don't really amount to much.
I have only these words for Bishop Jenky: Your Excellency, do not apologize, do not back down, do not imitate our Holy Father and some Bishops and Cardinals who back-peddle faster than the speed of light every time the ADL gets upset. When your fellow-Bishops take you aside and counsel you to apologize, ignore them. When the newspapers and the TV barons crucify you, ignore them. When the lynch-mobs of the ADL and their stupid supporters come after you, ignore them. Stand firm and proclaim the truth.
You will be hated as Christ was (and is) hated. The same successors to the Apostles who abandoned Christ on Good Friday will abandon you; the same successors to the Jews who put Our Lord to death will wish to do the same to you, to revile you and spit upon you. But don't back down, Your Excellency.
Be glad that you are making the same enemies as the Son of God. And may the Son of God bless you and give you strength.

THE CARDINALS ARE ACTING VERY QUEER
We are wondering what to make of some of our illustrious Cardinals in the Church. We have just been treated to the spectacle of Cardinal Wuerl's shenanigans in Washington, D.C. - which, as of this writing, have still not apparently been addressed by his superiors in Rome - and now we have another spectacle before us, one given to us by that ubiquitous episcopal oddity, Schonborn of Austria. This news item tells the story:
http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/austrian-priest-overruled-by-cardinal-regarding-homosexual-on-parish-counci
These men are behaving rather strangely, to say the least.
From the actions of these prelates one might come to the conclusion that the only class of people who enjoy the protection of the Church are those living in open, proud sodomy. In the old days in government or business or highly sensitive endeavors it would naturally be assumed that homosexuals were protected by the "higher ups" because the higher ups themselves were homosexuals. Today, at least in the Church, it is a little harder to tell. Certainly abject cowardice, cravenness and malice could explain the actions of a man like Wuerl. And Schonborn, given his history, could simply be a raving mad man. His trademark incoherence would all by itself be enough to raise such suspicions. But we cannot rule out that they, too, may be compromised and are facing a form of blackmail if they should come down too hard on the poofs.
The bigger question is the apparent silence of the Pope. We have just come from a tragic papacy that refused to govern and that looked the other way while these homosexual scandals were metastasizing by the week. Now we seem to have a new Pope who is following in the footsteps of his troubled predecessor. If the Holy Father cannot even bring himself to discipline his Cardinals who are protecting homosexuals, or allowing homosexuals to have their own little "Masses" (like Dolan in New York and Nichols in London are so allowing), then what can we realistically expect from this man? While not minimizing the good he has done and is doing we cannot overlook the bad. It is well known that Benedict is terrified by the media. Is he so terrified that he will allow such horrifying scandals as those committed by the Wuerls and the Schonborns to go on and on, driving good people out of the Church?
What, exactly, will it take before he acts?

THE OLD COVENANT IS NO MORE
"It is in the Mass of the Catechumens," relates the Missal of Dom Gaspar Lefebvre, "that these are told that the mercies of God are soon to descend on the Christian people, just as chastisement will fall on the faithless nations Ephraim and Juda; for at the very moment when the multitude of the children of Israel will be offering the Paschal Lamb, the Jews will be putting to death the Lamb of God on the Cross."
"Jesus was bound to triumph through those very atoning sufferings by which He became the Victim of every passion which shall agitate the human race until the end of the world. For He has atoned for the pride of those who share that hatred of truth which turned the Jews into murderers; the avarice of those who are possessed by the demon of greed which drove Judas to sell his master; the lust of all who indulge in sensual delights like Herod, who mocked Jesus and sent Him back to Pilate; the cruelty of those who love to cause suffering like the soldiers, who struck our Lord and insulted Him; and the cowardice of all who leave the path of duty like the Apostles, who forsook Him to whom they owed everything."
The Old Covenenant has ended once and for all; it is superseded by and finds completion in the New.

AND NOW, CANNIBALISM
In the prophetic novel of Mr H.G. Wells, THE TIME MACHINE (wonderfully filmed by George Pal in 1960) a scientist of the Victorian era invents a machine that will propel him into the future. In that far distant time he discovers that mankind has developed into two distinct types, the gentle, passive Eloi....and the Morlocks. The distinguishing characteristic of the Morlocks was neither gentleness nor passivity; it was cannibalism. Mr Wells' view was that mankind could not possibly sink much lower than to accept the eating of human flesh as a normal dietary activity. He may have been quite right.
But that view is one not shared by twenty first century politicians and industrialists, for word comes to us that there are a number of American companies like Senomyx that are using remains from aborted infants as "taste enhancers" in food products and selling these "enhancers" to big companies like Pepsi and Kraft.
Yes, you read that correctly. We have actually descended to that level of ghoulishness in America.
http://www.lifesite.net/news/obama-agency-rules-pepsi-use-of-aborted-fetus-is-ordinary-business
International Finance's puppet with the floppy ears in Washington has decreed that this is much ado about nothing. Well, why not? A nation that tells married people that they can dispose of their spouse whenever they feel like it, that tells people they can contracept themselves out of existence, that they can merrily murder their unborn children at whim, that they can engage in unnatural vice (a vice that not even dogs will stoop to) with the protection of the entire government can surely tell us to eat our own children. We've already sunk to the depths of homosexuality, so why not cannibalism?
Among the tasty treats on your grocer's shelves that contain this additive are such products as PEPSI soft drinks, SIERRA MIST, MOUNTAIN DEW, MUG ROOT BEER, OCEAN SPRAY beverages, SEATTLE'S BEST COFFEE, AQUAFINA water(!), AQUAFINA-flavored beverages, LIPTON TEA and other beverages, GATORADE beverages, TROPICANA beverages, FIESTA MIRANDA beverages, NESTLE coffee creamers, MAGGI-brand instant soups, bouillon cubes, ketchups, sauces, etc.
Chewing gums like BLACK JACK, BUBBALOO, CHICLETS, CLORETS, DENTYNE, FRESHEN UP, TRIDENT, SOUR CHERRY BLASTERS, SWEDISH FISH, JUICY SQUIRTS, ORIGINAL GUMMIES, SOUR PATCH KIDS, CERTS breath mints, HALLS cough drops.
A helpful list has been compiled by http://cogforlife.org which one assumes will be updated as more information becomes available. While presumably these products will cause no concerns with the head-hunting tribes in Africa and elsewhere, boycotts of them are well underway in countries such as Canada, Germany, Poland, Britain, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Portugal, Australia and New Zealand.
This writer must confess that upon first learning of this story it seemed too far-fetched....the product of a fevered imagination, or possibly an elaborate hoax to make some people look foolish. Alas, it is not so. It is an easy mistake to underestimate the depths of evil that the Big Government/Big Business nexus (aka Fascism) can sink to, so one must always be on one's guard in confronting such Satanic things. Those reading this who have 401-K accounts may wish to check if firms like Senomyx and Neocutis are among those in your portfolio. Speak to your broker.
Those of you who have not as yet contacted your pastors and religious leaders about this issue may want to do so without any undue delay.

WITH FRIENDS LIKE THIS....
With thanks to the excellent blog The Eponymous Flower for informing us that Bill Donohue, the cut-rate Abe Foxman, has come charging to the defense of the indefensible. He has decided to defend the unspeakable Cardinal Wuerl against a brilliantly scathing attack by writer George Neumayr in THE AMERICAN SPECTATOR.
One must feel some measure of pity for Donohue. He is quite out of his league here and his attempts to defend his beloved Cardinal against the wholly justified indignation of Mr Neumayr are embarrassing.
But one thing is clear, at least to this writer: the Cardinal is lining up friends on "the Right" to defend him. It is a clever ploy. It is obviously meant to assuage the concerns (are there any?) that Rome might have over this incident. Will this ploy work?
Yes, if Catholic writers in print or on the internet let this story disappear down the Memory Hole or allow themselves to be bullied into silence. But it is to be hoped that Catholic writers will not be silent on this gravely serious situation.
And it is remotely possible that the Cardinal will begin to see the colossal error of his ways and start to undo the damage, for the good not only of the Church but his own soul.

THE DAY THE DECISION WAS MADE
It is with the famous Gospel of Passion Sunday that Jesus Christ finally says the fateful words to his persecutors, the words that can give one goose bumps, so powerful and so majestic they are. It was with the speaking of those words that Our Lord’s doom was sealed.
In the great Missal of Dom Gaspar Lefebvre are quoted these thoughts, as a reflection prior to the reading of that Gospel: “Our Lord’s words in this place,” says St Gregory, “are awful indeed. He that is of God heareth the words of God. Therefore you hear them not because you are not of God.” St Gregory goes on: “There are some who do not even vouchsafe to listen to the commandments of God with heir bodily ears.”
The Missal continues: “It was thus that the Jews acted, for to their words of hate they added acts of enmity, showing that their father was the devil, a murderer from the beginning, nay, a murderer and a liar…All who hate the truth and try to harm their neighbour are the sons of Satan. Obeying his evil suggestions, the Jews hated Him who spoke the truth to them and sought to get rid of Him…Blinded by the divine Light which thus shone in all its brightness before them, they plunged of their own free will into the deepest darkness of error and sought to stone Christ, whom they had dared to accuse of blasphemy.”
It is with these sobering thoughts that we enter into the final days of Lent before the Son of God is to undergo terrible torments. The spine-tingling Gospel of St John for Passion Sunday is worth reading again, as we enter these final sad days:
At that time Jesus said to the multitude of the Jews: Which of you shall convince Me of sin? If I say the truth to you, why do you not believe Me? He that is of God heareth the words of God. Therefore you hear them not, because you are not of God. The Jews therefore answered, and said to Him: Do not we say well, that Thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? Jesus answered: I have not a devil: but I honor My Father, and you have dishonoured Me. But I seek not My own glory: there is One that seeketh and judgeth. Amen, amen, I say to you: If any man keep My word, he shall not see death for ever. The Jews therefore said: Now we know that Thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets: and Thou sayest: If any man keep My word he shall not taste death for ever. Art Thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead, whom dost Thou make Thyself? Jesus answered: If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing: it is My Father that glorifieth Me, of whom you say that He is your God, and you have not known Him: but I know Him: And if I shall say that I know Him not, I shall be like to you, a liar. But I do know Him, and do keep His word. Abraham your father rejoiced that he might see My day: he saw it and was glad.
The Jews therefore said to Him: Thou art not yet fifty years old: and hast Thou seen Abraham? Jesus said to them: Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am.
It was with the uttering of those terrible, final words to them that the Jews decided once and for all to kill Him. The gauntlet had been thrown down to them at last, and they no longer had any doubt as to who He was.
They took up stones therefore to cast at Him: but Jesus hid Himself, and went out of the temple.

CARDINAL WUERL HAS MADE A VERY POOR JOKE
There are not too many occasions that present themselves which make one want to vomit, but reading an article on the website of The National Catholic Register certainly had a poor effect on this writer’s stomach. It seems that His Eminence has published a book bewailing the state of the nation’s culture and the importance of Catholics taking their Faith seriously.
Obviously, the Cardinal has made a joke here. If he has, it certainly isn’t very amusing.
His Eminence, who has just caused a worldwide scandal in the Church by disciplining – publicly disciplining, so that all the world may see - Father Marcel Guarnizo for tactfully refusing Holy Communion to a woman living a life as a lesbian (and apparently, a Buddhist at that), now piously tells us how we must fight for our Faith. The timing of the release of this book, “Keep First the Kingdom” (surely one which will not find itself mentioned on too many Christmas gift wish lists), couldn’t be more perfect. It beautifully illustrates the unutterable hypocrisy of this Prince of the Church.
For those who can take it, here is the link to the article: http://www.ncregister.com/daily-news/cardinal-wuerl-to-catholics-seek-first-the-kingdom-in-order-to-challenge-th
And this: http://thejewishchronicle.net/view/full_story/11072965/article-Cardinal-Wuerl-appointed-to-Jewish-Catholic-relations-council-
If His Eminence is serious about his concerns over the state of religious freedom in America then he may wish to begin his work by publicly apologizing to the priest who took his priestly vows seriously, and by publicly disciplining the apostate Catholics of his own diocese, of which there are thousands. He might also begin taking his own faith seriously, instead of striking suitably saintly poses for the camera.
Donald Wuerl, ever since his apprenticeship with Cardinal Wright, has been working very hard to become another high-ranking prelate who ends up being a disgrace to his cloth. As of late, alas, he has been succeeding rather well.
Why does Benedict keep raising men like this to high office? This is a question that must be asked again and, unfortunately, again.
