However, in doing so the (((elites))) will in effect be seriously undermining their own very shaky claims to legitimacy and the whole 'democratic' process. If voting is seen to be a frustrating exercise in irrelevancy, then why persist in the charade of parliamentary democracy? Increasing numbers have no faith in the present system, and future calls by the elites for loyalty, tolerance etc. will fall on deaf ears.<br />There won't be the feared "credibility gap" but a veritable chasm of disbelief between us and them.
